Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about LieAbility — the free browser-based imposter party game for 3–12 players.
What is LieAbility?
LieAbility is a free browser-based social-deduction party game for 3–12 players. Everyone joins from their own phone using a 4-letter room code. Each round, one player is secretly the imposter and gets a slightly different prompt than the rest — the group has to spot them.
Is LieAbility free to play?
Yes. LieAbility is free in any modern browser. There is no account, no download, and no in-app purchase required to start a game.
How many players do you need?
LieAbility supports 3 to 12 players. The sweet spot is 4–8 in the same room. Off Script works with as few as 3 players; Loose Lips and Read the Room need at least 4. Rooms cap at 12 to keep rounds fast.
Do I need to install an app?
No. LieAbility runs entirely in your browser on any phone, tablet, or laptop. Just open playlieability.com and join the room.
What game modes are included?
Three imposter modes: Off Script (everyone answers in parallel, one player has a different prompt), Loose Lips (turn-based, played out loud — say one word that hints at a secret without giving it away), and Read the Room (tap an avatar in response to a “most likely to” prompt).
Can I play LieAbility remotely with friends?
Yes, but it is designed for in-person play. Modes like Loose Lips are played out loud, so a video call works as long as everyone can hear each other. Eye contact and shared reactions are part of the fun.
How long does a game take?
Each round runs 1–3 minutes including voting. A typical match is 5–10 rounds, so plan for 10–25 minutes per match. You can play several matches back to back without leaving the room.
How is LieAbility different from Jackbox?
LieAbility is free, runs in the browser without a Steam purchase, and specializes in imposter-style social-deduction mechanics. Jackbox bundles dozens of party games across many genres; LieAbility focuses on three highly-replayable imposter modes that share a profile and scoring system.
Is LieAbility like Among Us or Spyfall?
It is in the same imposter genre but designed for in-person play with friends. Among Us is an online task-and-vote game; Spyfall is a card-based location-guessing game. LieAbility is closer to Spyfall in spirit but with three distinct mechanics and full mobile-first UI.
Does LieAbility work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Any modern mobile browser — Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, Firefox, Edge — works. The game is mobile-first by design.
Is there a Discord or community?
